Description

Students examine the laboratory techniques used to study how higher organisms maintain and express genetic information. The course emphasizes model organisms and their responses to environmental stimuli; topics include DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, gene cloning and manipulation, analysis of gene expression, conservation genetics, and bioinformatics. Laboratory only. Course Fee $160 Prerequisite: BIO 240 or BIO 330 and sophomore standing.
