Description
This course explores depictions of rural and agrarian life in literary contexts???how the relationship to ???the land??? has been figured aesthetically and historically. Students examine how rural work???especially farming and herding???is idealized, valued, or ignored in a variety of textual forms, including the short story, the essay, and poetry. Corequisite: XHH 105. Connections Curriculum; Humanities.
