Description
Students examine the intellectual foundations of our culture from the Scientific Revolution to the French Revolution. The course emphasizes how the Enlightenment articulated Western civilization’s understandings of science, the role of government, the nature of the individual, and rationalism. Assignments focus on placing texts in context. Prerequisite: Any previous HIS course.
