Description

Students create, use, and study numerical models based on the governing equations of the atmosphere. Students are introduced to common practices of grid spacing, vertical coordinate systems, and time steps used in numerical weather prediction models and general circulation models. Additional topics include: post-processing, data assimilation, chaos, ensemble forecasting, trajectories, dispersion, verification, and validation. Prerequisites: MET 125 and MTH 230
