Description
In this field/hands on course, students learn techniques to effectively and safely use and maintain handsaws, axes/mauls, chainsaws, brush saws, and herbicides to support vegetation management actions and outdoor access. Students also learn and practice restoration and reforestation planting methods. Students demonstrate these skills as part of ongoing vegetation management actions (woody species reduction/fuel reduction/invasive species removal/ecosystem restoration/access and trail improvement) in support of Northland's sustainable property management. Students are required to work outside, with their hands, and function in challenging outdoor environments. This course meets for 2 hrs weekly for 4 weeks plus two 4-hour half days on two separate weekends. Course Fee $25
