Description

This course focuses on the properties and environmental transport of organic chemicals as well as the functional group transformations most often encountered in biological and environmental systems. Students study the following major classes of chemicals: aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, alkyl halides, alcohols, carbonyl compounds, and amines. Instrumental analysis of the compounds students synthesize is also an important component of the course. With Lab. Course Fee $75 Prerequisite: CHM 103, CHM 105, CHM 108, or CHM 110
